    He turned around after blow on a spoon and popped mac n cheese into Azazel's mouth.

    Val grabbed her hand before she could put it in his mouth.

    Azazel grunts in surprise as the noodles are shoved in her mouth, but obediently chews. "Very good. As always."


    Just then, the timer buzzes and Azazel hops over to the oven to pull out the contents, quickly moving out of Xhiero's view. After a few minutes of work she sets a plate next to Xhiero.

    Val ran his hand through his hair, clenching before dropping his hand back down.

    "May be I just need some time...alone." He stepped away from Susan and dropped his gaze.

    "Please just let me go home for a little bit."

    Xhiero filled their plates with mac and cheese before noticing what Azazel was making. He looked down at the plate then back up at her. His hand snatched the plate of potato and bolted to the couch.

    Susan pauses as tears begin to fall, sighing in frustration at her own stupidity. Standing on her toes she kisses him before pulling away.


    "Fine. Know that you leaving will damage me more than any physical injury ever could. But, I will not force someone who doesn't want me...who doesn't love me to remain by my side."

    He looked over to notice her smug expression.

    "What?"

    "I love you but...there are times I cannot protect the people I love. Perhaps things are better off without me around." His finger ran along the necklace around Susan's neck that was attached to his bell.

    Val picked up his belongings from the bedroom.

    "Sometimes I am not the sanest of people and I need to be alone...to protect myself and those I love."

    "You do know that you aren't the reason that I get kidnapped? I will still be in danger when you leave, if anything I will be in more danger, because at least you try to protect me."  


    She frowns as she watches him pack.


    "Although, perhaps you are the one who will be better off without me. I've only made your life more difficult."

    "Well, when you have such effective ways of warming me up, how could I resist?" Azazel grins and waggles her eyebrows at him.

    She sets aside her plate and finds the pamphlet they were given earlier. "Hmm. There does not seem to be too many activities at night. Except a fireworks show? Ah, there seems to be some sort of celebration going on. Or there is always hiking if you are feeling adventurous."

    Val sighed.

    "Susan.." He grabbed her hand and dragged her over to the bed, sitting her down on the mattress. Val sat down next to her.

    "Azazel and I grew up together as kids. One day she was taken away and as her big brother it was natural to try and bring her back. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't save her. They turned her into that bloodthirsty woman we all know and love today." He gave her a weak smiled.

    "I live with the guilt of not being able to do anything and it...it was one of the reasons that drove me mad. Berserk. There are many things that have happened to me between that time and now. Anything that triggers those memories will cause me to go insane." Val held onto Susan's hand.

    "That's why I am afraid something might happen if you get kidnapped so frequently."

    "Or we can hike to a tall place and watch the fireworks. Hitting two birds with one stone." He said now eating a second potato that suddenly appeared on his plate.

    "This is true. I imagine there would not be many people out at night to bother us. They will all be down at the main building taking part in the festivities." She pulls her legs up to her chest and rest her chin on top of them as she watches Xhiero eat with a grin.

    "Is that not why we have the bell?" She frowns "I love every part of you, even those that are dangerous, you don't have to deal with it alone."

    "I live outdoors...so there won't be a house."

    "Thank you." Xhiero smiled and pulled her in to kiss her before clearing the plates. He returned with a cups of hot cocoa and handed her one.

    "We can leave afterward."

    Xhiero wrapped his arm around Azazel and rest his head on top of her's. His eyes gazing out at the blanket of snow before them.

    "We should do this more often. I never knew I would like places like this."

    "You should use that smart brain of your's and create some sort of tent to keep you feeling at home." He poked her forehead.
