Azazel freezes at the man's touch and drops her battle stance. He smirks and pets Azazel's head as he says, "Defend me and kill him." Azazel turns to face Xhiero, all comprehension of who he is gone and she stands to block Xhiero's access to the unicorn and prepares to attack.

The cube seems to suck Val into its depths for a moment before expelling him with such force that he is flung from the pit. He lands in a heap next to Susan who helps him up while examining him worriedly.
"Are you alright?"
Her examination is interrupted by a slow clap coming from Mrs. Evensong who appears to be wearing a gas mask.
"Mother!" Susan shrieks "You're embarrassing me!"
With a growl Susan grabs her gas mask from her bag and slaps it on Val's face she smirks victoriously before realizing that this means she has no mask. Almost simultaneously she passes out from the gas that is rapidly filling the room.
"It would seem that you've caused my daughter to become stupid."
"Are you alright?"

"You are going to hide behind a woman?" Xhiero said to the man. He held up his scythe towards them. Xhiero casts shield of faith upon himself and gains +2 AC.

"Idiot!" Val mumbled through the gas mask as he caught Susan. Realizing the gas was not poisonous he felt relieved.
"Is this necessary?" Val was beginning to grow agitated by the woman. " I tried to be friendly but I am afraid my patience is running out, Mrs. Evensong. I deserve some answers as you promised."
He stepped up to her desk.
Perception for traps: + 2
"What do you want from me? Because I am sure you have many things to say about me. However, do not drag your daughter into this or call her stupid. She is a very smart...and cruel....woman. Yes, she may not be up to your expectations but she is doing her best for this company."

"I've never seen my daughter put herself in harms way for anything, certainly not for the sake of another person... I am not certain how I feel about this sudden change..."
She looks up at Val contemplatively.
"My daughter has... responsibilities... that she must attend to, if you intend to stand in the way of those responsibilities you must be dealt with. What exactly are your intentions for her?"

The demon looks positively outraged that Xhiero managed to get Azazel to break through his charm, if only for a moment. "Don't touch my toys!"
However, any retaliation he might have had was cut off, quite literally, when Xhiero's scythe severs his head from his shoulders.
As he falls over, and his soul goes fluttering out of his body, Azazel snaps out of her trance and groans. "I hate this god forsaken place." And kicks the demon's body for good measure.

Val calmed down. He felt funny talking through a gas mask.
"My intentions? I only want her to be happy and safe, ma'am." He replied. How I wish I could be like big brother right now...this is tiresome.
Xhiero snatched the soul before it could escape and shoved it into a bottle. Xhiero returned to Azazel's side. He placed his hand on her head and patted her head.
"If you hated this place so much. Why don't we head home. Your job is done, correct?" He tossed her the bottle with the soul in it.
