"It is fine. I am just not accustomed to talking about myself all that much." Azazel turns to face him, but looks off in the distance as she thinks.
"When I was very young, still a child and before I was.. taken, I was far different than I am now. Naive, upbeat, trusting, one might even say sweet. Still a bit of a troublemaker and had a love for roughhousing, but.. nicer. It was so long ago, it is hard to think of that girl as myself anymore." She shakes her head before continuing on.
"Anyway, my brothers and I lived in the forests, much removed from human civilization. But I was always curious about them since they lived so differently from us. I would often shift into my other form and run up on the outskirts of villages or city, just to watch people go about their day."
"However, one day I was caught by some kind of hunter. He called over to me and seemed nice enough, but once I got close to him he grabbed me by the scruff and stuffed me into a bag to take me home. He had all sorts of other animals there. At the time I did not why he keep me alive, but now I know he was some sort of groundskeeper for some rich noble or another. Gathering up game to re-release so his master could feel all powerful as he hunted down disoriented animals in the comfort of his own backyard." She scowls, bitterness plain in her tone.
"I was there for a day or so before Val and Demetri came for me." She smiles slightly. "They were a force to be reckoned with, I tell you. That man did not stand a chance. Once they had taken care of him, they took me home. Val, of course, was beside himself. He was always much freer with his emotions. But that was one of the few times I actually saw a glimmer of worry from Demetri. Probably because I was so young."
"But by the gods did I get a scolding after that."
