"Your expert witness claims that one of your guards approached him and insisted that you wished him to lie about seeing Azazel at the scene of the crime. He even claimed that you would grant him land once you managed to parlay this terrible crime into a revolution. But of course that is ridiculous, isn't it your majesty? For surely a king as wise as you would not do something so underhanded, and surely he would not be foolish enough to allow us to investigate."

"Well your majesty, my preference is that we settle this quietly and privately. That you allow my clearly innocent friend to go free, and that you focus on matters within your own court.
I would prefer not to bring this whole messy business into the public eye. I'd hate for anyone to slander your good name with claims that you arranged the murder of your own people in order to instigate a war that will spill the blood of many others.
After all, even if you were able to deny everything, there would be seeds of doubt, and opportunistic beings would seize upon that doubt. Being a king puts a bit of a target on one's back, does it not?
The seeds of doubt can bloom into the fruits of revolution, but only if watered with blood. I'd rather it not be yours."

"I would not remind me that I have a reason to stab you, if I were in your shoes." She takes the dagger and nods as she heads for the stairs, pausing briefly to let Xhiero catch up.
Once she makes it to the room, she looks around before her gaze falls upon the closet. She stalks over and swings the door open, kneeling over the demon in the closet to tear off his blindfold with a grin. "Hello, Ivan. It has been a while."
"You are incredibly foolish. I would have let you go if we only had this mess of a trial between us, but no. You had to threaten the person that means the most to me." She leans down closer to whisper in his ear. "And the difference between you and I, is that I can actually protect that which is mine."
Azazel pulls the dagger across the demon's throat. Reaching out, she crushes the soul that escapes Ivan's lifeless body before standing up.
She chances a tentative look at Xhiero. "Shall we go?"
