The Main Campaign!

She nudges Jax to make a wide arc towards the group, trying to remain unnoticed. As she nears the visitors she stands on Jax's back and steadies herself before launching herself at her brother, tackling him off his own bird.

Completely unfazed by the fall, Gideon punches his sister in the arm. Grinning, he remarks; "Bloody hell, Bug! I could hardly believe it when I heard that you made the Red Talons. Who did you have to beat up to get that position?"



In a panic, Jax catches the two Shepards and brings them back to the group. Your party and the visiting group fly towards Abbey Terrace, where Mah Kahn welcomes you as you land. Mah'kahn introduces your party to his guests. "From the Elven capital of Gold'are, we have High Druid Zehn Thornweaver, and the two guards who accompanied him you may already know. Ten Fore and Gideon Shepard were homegrown in Red Terrace, and used to be members of the Red Talon Scouts. Ah! And I had almost forgotten, it appears that this year Zehn's daughter, Zevia, has come as well. It is good to see you again, lass."

"Likewise, High Druid Kahn. Uh.. well. You know what I mean."



"And from the Dwarven gate city of Iz'jerhen we have High Druid Belril Runehouse, and his two guard escorts who I don't believe I have met yet.."

The two dwarven guard stand straight. "Noronin Sapphire, sir." "And Thodak Goldbludgeon! Thank you for having us."

High Druid Runehouse's attention turns toward Zehn. "An extra, Thornweaver? Your daughter's presence somewhat breaks tradition, don't you think?" Mah'Kahn interjects, "If I may, it is only my son and I here in Red Terrace. You don't have to worry yourself, Runehouse, there will still be balance. Now we have kept our new scouts long enough, why don't you head inside. The feasts are entering their first courses and your friends and family are most likely already inside."

Sure enough, most of the town has already made their way to the abbey. You grab your favorite beverage, oogle the appetizers, and enjoy the feast-day. Your mingling is interrupted when Panzer's wife interrupts you; "Hello there, enjoying the festivities? You helped big-time yesterday, and people noticed. Myself, Mrs. Skarborough, and a few of the families on Farmer's Terrace got together and wanted to give you four a little appreciation gift. Bessie wanted to help out too."

You see Mah'kahn walking towards the front of the hall. Usually, at every Eve of the Three, Mah'kahn begins the feast with a blessing, as well as leading any ceremonies planned for that day. Usually this is when new Red Talon Scout members are officially accepted in to the ranks. His blessings also make way for the main courses of food, booze, and music. You should do whatever mingling you still want to do, grab a drink or appetizer, than find a good seat.

You watch as Mah Kahn approaches the front of the monastery, carrying four red scarves, and quietly gestures to your party to stand by him. The old druid takes wood from the Grandfather Redwood, burns it, and grinds it in to a fine ash. "Tonight, before our feast begins, I want to honor our newest Red Talons. These four have endured hard training to reach where they are now, and not only seek to serve our small town, but act as a symbol of our town's resiliency and determination." Bishop Crane brings Mah Kahn some water and a brush, which he uses to carefully inscribe each scarf with Red Terrace's emblem. As he does this, the Mother's Bell at the top of the abbey is rang once; its deep sound reverberates through the entire building.



The High Druid turns to each one of you and hands you your own scarf back, with a firm hand placed on your shoulder. To each of you, he says; "May you stay safe, and fortune smile wherever you go. And until the day when wings of old carry your body back to the earth, may you do great things."

Bishop Crane also approaches your party. "From the clerics and monks of Pelor here on Red Terrace, we also wanted to bestow a gift. For each of you, we have made decorative barding for your loyal mount, as well as a matching bracer made from the same cloth. It is blessed by Pelor, and both pieces are colored to represent your bond. Vasani Shepard, for you we choose lime, to represent your youthfulness and ambition. Tabitha Oakenfleur, for you we choose olive, to represent your deep connection to the natural world around you. Metah Fore, for you we choose cyan, for your light-hearted spirit and creativity. And for you, Phedre nicEssus, we choose magenta, for your harmonic and caring nature.

You receive RED TALON BARDING and BRACERS! (Equip these items as "Impenetrable Barding (Heroic Tier, found in the Misc Section) and Heart-Touched Bracelets. The equip effect for the bracelets assumes the second bracelet is given to your mount.)

You are applauded as you return to your seats. High Druid Mah Kahn once again takes to the front of the monastary, with the other two High Druids at his side. "Tonight, we take part in one of three feasts in the year, the Eve of the Three; a tradition we hold dearly at Red Terrace. Tonight we honor the Mother, the spirit of nurturing and growth. Tomorrow morning, myself and the other High Druids shall bless this great tree, and ensure its good health, as well as the good health for any crops grown in the year." The High Druid looks around the room and smiles, "But let me cut myself off here. I can see you salivating from up here, you want this feast to start. Bring out the food! This is a celebration!"

Food begins to roll out from the kitchens of the abbey. Fresh breads, cooked vegetables, succulent meats and spiced drinks are placed at each table, with more than enough to share. Corn-breads, roasts, pies, mead, a wide variety of food and drink fill the room. After a drink or two, Brandis takes to the front of the abbey with his harmonica, and begins playing a multitude of folk songs for the crowd. Darkspear joins in as well, adding his voice to Brandis's music, and playing the drum. Donovan finishes a slice of pie, and joins in with his fiddle. The sounds of music and celebration continue in to the night.



Hours have passed. You were full a while ago, yet the aromas lead you to continue picking at the food. You finally push the plates away as you get sleepy. Some of the other townsfolk have already passed out at the tables. Using all the strength in your body, you stand up. Maybe.. maybe it is a good time to go home.

You can continue to interact with others at the feast, but when you are ready to continue to the next scene, HEAD HOME!

Finally deciding to finally stop picking at the mounds of food, Tabby begins to make up a little birdy-bag for Kord. If there was one thing that bird could do, it was eat. The whole "eating like a bird" saying was completely, hopelessly lost on him. She probably shouldn't encourage him, but hey, it was a festival, right? She gathers up some choice bits that a crow would enjoy, wraps them in a napkin, waves to any remaining conscious Scouts, and sets off to find Kord before making the trek home up on the top terrace.

Tabitha probably keeps half an eye out for anyone she knows or anything exciting during her walk...just in case. For one, she's been carrying around this weird mushroom that she forgot about with all this excitement, and she knew Cameron's mother was an alchemist, but seeing as it was something of a holiday, she wasn't going to actively seek her out tonight.

One pile of particularly delicious looking sweets appears to have a face.


Metah may claim that his present position in this pile of sweets is due to her wanting to practice being sneaky, but in reality simply sitting in front of the treats had not allowed him to shovel them into her gaping maw quickly enough. Finally feeling full Metah starts to wonder what the High Druids are talking about. Feeling fairly confident that the abundance of other people and the heavily flowing drinks will help keep him from being noticed he moves to sneak into a food pile nearer to the High Druids.

From your extremely tasty vantage point, you secretly watch the High Druids. The elven High Druid from Gold'are has passed out from all the drink, and the two other Druids sit by him with red on their noses and sleepy smiles on their faces. Zevia, the elven Daughter, sits with them, keeping her composure surprisingly well.

They aren't being terribly interesting, but you do catch some of their conversations..

"So, Belril, how have things been in Iz'jerhen? After all, we'll be in town for the Harvest of the Hag later this year.

"I wish I could say things have been better.. most of the dwarven cities still refuse to listen to the King, and are starting to form their own governments. Being on the border, Iz'jerhen has had especially more trouble, with it's current regent acting eccentric as ever."

"Is the trouble the King faces still a result of the last war?"

"Aye.. the dwarven people are restless. Don't get me wrong, the last thing any dwarf wants is to be at war, but most just wish that the King didn't end the war with the elves the way he did. The debts owed are killing the country, and most cities are too proud to reopen their borders as much as they want to. I'll tell you, it was a lot easier attending the harvests in Red Terrace when the Ironwrought Empire still owned it."

"Mm."

"Listening to the nobles of Gold'are can be insufferable at times. They complain about Iz'jerhen's gates being closed as if they completely forgotten what travesties they have caused to the dwarven nations. Their spiteful, wishing they conquered instead of formed a treaty. I am thankful that the parliament and military leaders still remember what actually happened, and are still thankful for peace."

Vasani rubs her hands together and cracks her knuckles before smiling sweetly at those around her.

"Let's do this."

Metah finds herself unable to focus on this conversation. Politics have never been his forte and the words were certainly to big for her to understand. Shaking himself out of her trance he suddenly leaps from the pile of treats like a dolphin at one of those fancy shows.

Phedre wavered for a few moments thinking of the responsibilities that awaited her in the morning as a new member of the Talons, but the slightly lopsided grins from her fellow guards drew her back to the party. She had been intensely scholarly for all her life. She deserved a night of celebration. Besides, she'd never been in a drinking contest before, this could be enlightening.

Having made up her mind she swaggered forth and slapped 10g on the table. "I'm in." She'll drink these guys under the table. All in the name of science, of course.

The two dwarves nearly jump out of their seats. The last thing they expected was a kid jumping out of some sweets. Zevia snickers, almost as if she had sensed Metah's presence all along.

Also, unrelated, but when looking for a flapjack image of him jumping when I found this. Poor Daan Jer, or Dan Ger. (Dan ger). (Danger).

The first round comes and goes. Roro drops out almost immediately, poor girl won't even remember the next morning. Another round. And another. It is down to Boxershorts and Vasani, with 60g on the line. As much as Box wanted to continue, he passed, granting victory to Vasani!

Excited cheers and laughing fill the abbey late in to the night following the contest. The celebrations were far from over, and the town knew it. It is the one day in the year where people find themselves utterly at peace, where responsibilities were far away. It was a good day, and an even better night for the Red Talon Scouts.

It's late. Really late. The four of you stumble out of the Abbey alongside Cameron. Outside, it is snowing heavily, obscuring your vision and covering everything with a powdery layer of white.

"God, I am going to get so much shit for this, but let me walk you four home; after all, I don't want anyone passing out in the snow. Metah, you just keep an eye on me, alright? So I don't "take advantage of these poor defenseless women."

You start walking down the great steps that lead back down to the market terrace, each step requires more effort than the last. Your laughing and talking but.. you have trouble controlling what you are saying.. what you are thinking.

Even Cameron seems to be rambling.. you can't quite concentrate.. you just want to lay down and sleep.

You pass the steps.. you continue walking.. talking.. you pass some.. buildings. It's late.. your really tired.

Wow, you are.. really tired. Your eyes can't quite stay open for some reason.. like someone is yawning over and over. But.. no one is yawning?..
