"I should have just stabbed the damn instrument with no warning, this is what I get for being a nice guy," Aden grumbles. "You're amazing, there," he says with little effort. "Now help me out!"

"Come now, someone who knows the power of words can't do better than that?"

"You're fantastic, gorgeous, the gods greatest gift to mankind, and so much more," Aden says with no effort put in.

Re: Boatversations
"The lack of effort and originality is heartbreaking, truly it is. However, it is a start, so I'll take pity on you this time. It would be cruel to leave you stuck here any longer."
A few minutes later the bath door slams open revealing Susan with her eyes politely averted.
"Father! I... need your help with something! Where have you been?!" The bard jumps with surprise, and his concentration is broken. Aden suddenly remembers that he really DOES NOT enjoy accordion music at all!
Forcing a robe on Fredworthy, she drags the mildly confused Bard out of the bathroom lecturing him the entire time.

"Freedom!" Aden shouts and it can be heard from outside the bathroom. He quickly starts to dry himself off so that he can get dressed.

Re: Boatversations
About an hour later, an extremely annoyed looking Susan returns to her room flopping onto the couch.
"Why the hell did I bring him on this trip?!"

Aden was lying on the bed reading a book. He looks up right when Susan lands on the couch. "I was going to ask the same thing."

Re: Boatversations
Susan jumps at the sound of Aden's voice.
"I did not realize you were back already."
Massaging her aching head, she sighs.
"I brought him along because I promised him I'd bring him if I ever visited the Old Country. I never thought that I would actually visit the Old Country, so it seemed like a safe enough promise, but, here we are." A scowl settles on her face. "Plus, Val said we should 'bond'." She shudders.

"We are on a very dangerous mission to fight some creature that can not die and you brought your father along to bond?" Aden asks with a mocking tone. "You sure know the perfect ways to bond. I can't wait to see how you'll bond with your kids!"

"He is difficult to say no to!" Susan pouts. "Once he gets an idea in his head he won't let it go and no input or protesting can change it."
She looks over at Aden and grins apologetically.
"I am sorry about earlier... he seems to dislike you a great deal."

"I guess he can be difficult to say no too, especially when he's using dirty tricks like charm spells," Aden grumbles at the bad memory. "And the feeling is mutual! I will not be going near bards anymore unless I have too."

Re: Boatversations
"I don't fully understand his dislike of you." Susan muses.
"I get the protective thing... I suppose, but I'm hardly your type, so it is a bit of a nonissue... But then, explaining things logically rarely seems to work on father."
She grins at the bard comment and nods vehemently.
"I also avoid bards at all costs. We should form a club!"

"It beats me," Aden grumbles, "I've done way more work than I was planning to on this ship. He's just been standing there the entire time!"
Aden looks up from his book to watch Susan for a bit. "Giving your family's business and everything why do you hate bards so much?"

Re: Boatversations
"Largely, it is because of the family business that I dislike bards." Susan sighs wearily.
"I was never musically inclined, even when I was younger. However, Mother and Father were both bards, their love of music brought them together. So, obviously I HAD to love music. How could I not? It was family fucking tradition!" She scowls darkly.
"So, I was forced to train to be a bard for years! YEARS! My entire childhood was spent learning the fine art of barding, despite my lack of interest in the subject. Mother could be quite... cruel.... when I didn't do as she wished. She still can be, perhaps Val told you of the time she dropped him down a pit?
Anyways, I was trained to be a bard, constantly surrounded by bards, they even betrothed me to a goddamned bard! Bards have consumed my fucking life, not only are they generally annoying, but they are a symbol of everything I'm expected to be."
Susan glares at the ceiling so fiercely that there is a legitimate chance she'll burn a hole in it.

Re: Boatversations
"I see...," is the only thing Aden can think to say. He puts his book away and stares up at the roof as well, although no where near as intense as Susan. He seemed to be lost in thought before finally speaking, "I guess having parents isn't always a great thing," the comment was said more to himself than to Susan.

"I do believe, that depends on the parents in question." Susan sighs and continues staring at the ceiling.
"You did not know your parents?"

Re: Boatversations
"Oh, I knew them...sort of," Aden mumbles as a bad taste entered his mouth.
"My father left my mother when I was relatively young so I don't really remember him. I actually don't remember his face at all and I don't want too. As for my mother she put up with me for a few more years but abandon me as well as she blamed me for pretty much everything that went wrong in her life. I think I was about 10 when she left. I don't know what happened to my dad and I don't care but I do know my mom is dead or at least she has to be."

Re: Boatversations
Susan finally stops staring at the ceiling and turns her gaze to him.
"That must have been incredibly... difficult. I am sorry."

Aden just shrugs but continues to look up at the roof. "It's in the past, there's nothing can be done now."

"That is... a good way to look at it, I suppose." Susan returns her gaze to the ceiling as well.
"And, your hardships growing up helped make you into the person you are now."

"I've had over a hundred years to vent out my anger," Aden starts. A sea of memories begin to flood him, many of which are not pleasant.
"I guess so," Aden shrugs, "I can't see how they didn't."

"Well, then while I regret that your life has been filled with so many difficulties, I am somewhat thankful. After all, I find the person you are now to be fairly enjoyable... in a way..."

"That there is something good to come out of my past," Aden says between laughs, "or that someone actually finds me pleasant! I don't know which is funnier!"
