A huge ball of flame explodes from the device, boiling the water it passes over before eventually fizzing when it does not strike anything. Susan silently returns her gaze to Troy, smile even more pleasant than before.

"It is true that I can't exactly take a hit. I've even been nicknamed Glass Cannon, by some. I suppose, I shall have to hope that my party members prove to be reliable, won't I?"

"I believe the member of my party who'd be most suited to teaching me that, is rather displeased with me right now." She frowns before shaking her head and smirking at Troy.

Troy turns and shouts across the deck, "LORIC!"
An elven man looks over and walks up to the wheel. He offers Susan a smirk before turning to Troy. "What's up."
"Watch the storm. I'll be down below for a bit," Troy says and pats the man on the shoulder before motioning Susan to follow him.
He leads her down to the bottom level where a fighting ring sits in the center of the floor. "Get in." Walking over to a chest, he pulls out a pair of rapiers and climbs into the ring himself.
Troy hands Susan a sword, "Hold it like this. Keep your wrist loose," he says and stands beside her, holding his hand out to demonstrate.

Troy's lips twitch as he fights a smile. He bends over a picks up the sword. "Maybe I have something lighter.." He ducks back out of the ring and over to the weapon chest and digs around.
He returns with a couple different options. Holding out a short sword he says, "Try this first."

Susan glares determinedly at the blade and is pleasantly surprised to find that she doesn't immediately topple over while holding it. She does her best to mimic the position he showed her.

"Good." Troy shifts a couple of her fingers, but nods in approval.
"Now, turn sideways. You make for a smaller target that way." He gently pushes her shoulders to turn her and nudges her feet to widen her stance. "Feet apart, knees slightly bent. Keep yourself ready to move."
"I imagine you're not going to be charging in to the front lines, so we'll just worry about defense." He moves to stand in front of her again, and pulls her sword arm up with the sword held out in a defensive position. "All you want to worry about is blocking the blow. Maybe trying to throw your opponent off so you can get away."
Troy grabs his own sword and holds it out. "I'm going to try and hit you. Keep your sword at the ready and just try and keep my sword away from your body."
Very slowly, he aims straight at where Susan's sword is positioned and swings.

Somewhat nervously, Susan prepares herself for the blow, flinching slightly and screwing her eyes shut, when the blade comes towards her, she tries to block.

The swords clang together and Susan is pushed back slightly, but manages to block the blow!
"Don't shut your eyes! You need to watch your opponent to tell where and when they're going to strike. Otherwise the sword in your hand is pointless." Troy says, "But that was good."

Susan pouts slightly as she's scolded, but nods obediently. Eyes widening when she realizes this blow is coming faster she tries to block again.
