"You only say that because it is impossible for you to go on a date with yourself! If you could be on a date with someone as amazing as you, you would understand!" He beams down at her, quite pleased with himself.


"Indeed." Susan replies lighting a cigarette and taking a long drag. "You are quite interesting. Isn't that obvious?"

"I am afriad I hadn't thought to plan much else. I am sorry." He says looking contrite.

"I did hang a swing from that tree branch though!"

Brightening he points to a small swing excitedly.



"Well, I imagine you wouldn't think much about it. It would be quite conceited to sit around thinking about how interesting you are." Susan laughs.

"You obviously!" He says frantically waving his arms. "I hung it for you to ride on!"


Susan follows behind him with a grin.

"What are you going to make?"

"I had just planned for the swing." Craig says as he pushes her suddenly looking contrite.

"There aren't a lot of options on the ship I'm afraid. Was there something else you wanted to ride? I'll do my best to arrange it for you!"


Susan ponders this for a moment.

"Come to think of it, I don't remember the last time I ate...." Pulling out a flask she takes a swig. "Two days ago maybe?"

"...Thank you?" Puzzled yet pleased by the compliment Craig continues to push Vasani on the swing.


"Oh we have plenty of food. Hell, we have an entire grove of fruit trees growing on board. I just... forget to eat. It has never really been a priority for me." She shrugs. "Usually I'm too busy working."

"I enjoy reading, and I write poetry." Craig says with a small smile.

"Also I find fishing to be quite enjoyable, or long quiet walks. What about you?"



"Being informed I need to eat how... nostalgic." A tiny smile graces her lips as she takes one of the tacos and nibbles it lightly.

"I've never had a fish taco before, it is delicious, thank you."

"You did seem ready to cause mischief when we first met. You had me quite surprised." He laughs.


"I imagine it must be difficult to find new and interesting ways to serve fish." She muses as she finishes her single taco.


"If you could cook anything, what would you want to cook?"

"I thought my wallet was a little lighter." He muses with an amused smile.


"Food does have a strong nostalgia factor." Susan says with a smile.

"Now, this is completely out of left field, forgive me, but, did you have any... romantic entanglements prior to Vasani?"

"The spirit and demon proof house was what I really wanted. I was just trying to look cool in front of the guys." Craig's cheeks flame with embarrassment. "Of course, beautiful naked women would certainly be welcome. I'm nothing if not a hospitable host."

Susan shrugs as she takes a swig from her flask.

"Curiosity mostly, as well as trying to make conversation. Asking questions is the best way to learn about people." She grins.

Craig sits uncomfortably but obediently in the swing.

"I... hadn't anticipated being in the swing to be honest..."


"I thought I was the one doing the interrogating!" Susan chuckles.

"I'm afraid my list is rather short. There is my betrothed, and there is also the person I love." She smiles a little darkly. "Okay, my list is short, but complicated."

"I suppose this is fun..." He muses, temporarily oblivious to how low Vasani's hands are drifting.



"Yes, producing an heir is quite the responsibility." She sighs. "It doesn't help that I hate the man."

"I've heard that was impossible.... and dangerous..." Craig chuckles nervously.


"Life would be much easier if that were the case. He seems to be quite... fond of me... and despite my constant efforts to persuade him to the contrary, he seems convinced that I feel the same way about him." She frowns with frustration.


"He is rather convinced that women don't know what they want unless they have a man to tell them. So, any unkindness I direct towards his person and declarations of all out hatred are dismissed as a big misunderstanding."
