He stopped momentarily to answer her question. "I like irritating you because it breaks you out of your shell. There's a different side to you when you aren't drunk and angry...or business-like." Val lifted Susan off the ground and gave her a bear hug before gently placing her back on the ground. He patted her on the head before darting off. He definitely did not want to be scorched again.

Susan looks momentarily taken aback. She hadn't anticipated a straight answer, certainly not one that was almost.... sweet? However she bristles with discomfort and irritation at the bear hug and glares darkly as he flees.

She runs to chase after him shaking her fist menacingly.
"I will use mage hand to trip you, don't test me!"
"It isn't always about being content or not. When you grow up in poverty, it is usually more about survival than personal dreams. Even if you want to change, try to change those around you will drag you back down. Not out of cruelty mind you, they think they're protecting you, operating under the logic that the tallest blade of grass gets cut first. I'm not sure I agree. That is why I took Ms. Evensong up on her offer, it was the chance to do something... different."
He leans in and grins conspiratorially
"But you know... I love crushing skulls! What about you? Are you content with this aimless traveling? Do you have any goals in life?"

"I'd like to see you try!" Val teased her and ran around the corner. Now he was out of sight for her to aim her mage hand. He ducked into a crevice in the wall and attempted to stealth. Maybe she will run past him.

Azazel shrugs. "I am not sure what else I would do. I do not need money as you mortals do. My family is vast and so full of assholes that I only speak to two of my brothers." She taps her chin in thought. "Honing my skills in battle is my greatest goal and directly ties into my work. Work is the only reason I travel anymore. I have seen all I have wanted to see of the world. Otherwise I stay in my estate when not visiting family or friends." She looks sharply at Skull Crusher. "You breate a word of that estate's existence to anyone and I will kill you slowly."

He snickered and quietly followed behind Susan, keeping his distance. Val dug into his bag and pulled out a tiny sack of colorful candy. He threw it towards her from behind a group of people. The first one bounced off her messy, tangled hair. Maybe she didn't feel that one. He threw another, trying to put more strength into it.

They sit in companionable silence for a moment before he asks the question that was gnawing on him.
"Isn't it a bit boring? Just existing like that? Being part of the constant flow of time with no real goal until all the days start to meld together? How do you keep from going mad?"
Susan pauses her angry marching as she is struck in the head by some mysterious object.

Seeing absolutely nothing and scowling darkly Susan turns and continues to the market. Stomping into a store that sells various plants she snaps at the poor clerk.
"I need some god damned Aloe Vera!"
Grinning slightly when the clerk jumps Susan purchases her strange spiky plant and wanders back out into the market.

"Hmm." Azazel rocks back on her chair legs again. "I suppose that's why I spend as much time amongst you mortals as I do. Your cultures are always changing and creating. It gives me something new to learn and experience. Plus your motivations are all different. Each person I happen across shows me something different. It's all a matter of living in the moment and not dwelling on the future or past. It is difficult to explain to someone that has not experienced it, but I hope that answer will suffice?" Her lips quirk into a grin. "Plus, it is always easy to find a fight if I need entertainment."

Val watched Susan from the corner of a window. "Eh, why would she buy a giant plant?" He ducked down and huddle into a ball outside as she walked out. At this point Skull Crusher does seem slightly uncomfortable. He usually doesn't discuss this stuff in front of women, but then he usually doesn't talk to women like Azazel.
