Susan rolls her eyes slightly.

"You mean, you want to look cute and innocent so that I'm the only one who gets attacked."

With a sigh Susan marches towards the front door and knocks politely.

The singing stops suddenly and several minutes later the door opens a crack.

"Hellloooo? Who is it?"

The woman's voice begins to quake with fear.

"Are you from the woods? If you are go away before my frog comes back. Scoot!"

Susan smiles soothingly at the old lady and raises the hand that isn't presently holding Val.

"Ma'am, I assure you his assertion that we are simple travelers is quite true. We have not come from the woods and wish to hide from whatever creatures may hail from them. "

"I am not a monster.." Val grumbled as he hopped onto the mat and scrubbed his paws onto the mat. He walked closely to Susan and looks around the cottage.

"I am curious. Can you tell us what has been happening with the creatures in the forest? We saw footprints walking towards your home but nothing returning to the woods."

As Val looks around he notices several locks on the door and reinforcements on the windows.

The woman shudders at the mention of the creatures from the woods.

"Those things... they attack the house quite frequently. Scares the dickens outta me, but froggy takes care of them. Yes he does. He's a good frog." She examines the two more closely.

"You're sure you aren't monsters? What are your names?"

"My name is Val, sweet little lady. I am by no means a monster. No monster would be as well kept and mannered as I. Besides if I am like one of those monsters from the forest I would have attacked long ago." He waved a hand towards Susan.

"This lovely woman here is Susan Evensong. She is my lover. How may we address you?"

The little old lady gasps at the sudden transformation. She seems to be almost more unsettled by the fact that the talking fox suddenly transformed into a man.

"My name is Mrs. Collywobbles." She looks back and forth between the pair. "Is this transformation for the sake of..." she leans in and whispers "...sexual deviance? Out of wedlock no less. I cannot abide by that sort of thing in my home."

Susan flushes slightly at Val's description and even more so at Mrs. Collywobbles' question.

"Of course not! He makes it sound so... improper, but we haven't... he hasn't expressed an interest in that... I can assure you that we will keep your home free of any sexual deviance!"

The woman seems somewhat mollified at this.

"Then what exactly can I do for you, dear children?"
