The year is 1893, and you find yourself in the peculiar village of Red Terrace.
- THE WORLD -
The campaign starts at around the same time period that I have used in previous campaign settings, but it is not exactly the same world. The setting stands at the end of the Industrial Revolution, as technology begins to take over and the world, as a whole, starts to become less and less mysterious.
For the most part, chivalry and magic have been lost as modern weaponry and philosophy replace the more traditional fantasy setting.

Red Terrace Abbey sits at the edge of an ancient wood, one of the few places left that spirits still roam freely; it is because of this forest, as well as village's unique structure, that has kept Red Terrace mostly safe through the ages.
The village is the home to around 250, and was originally built by Dwarves (who had named the redwood "Grandfather"), but was taken over through warfare by Elven Nations a little over a hundred years ago. For the most part, the village racial make-up is about 75% Elven, 15% Eladrin, 5% Human, and 5% a variety of other races, usually Dwarves or fey-creatures, such as Gnomes or Satyr.
Also, in most cases the art of using a melee weapon would have been replaced entirely by the use of firearms, but I ignore this fact for this campaign. Because D&D would be silly without a good sword. Don't hesitate to give a character a broadsword, thinking you will be screwed over by technology. You wouldn't be a hero if you couldn't figure a way to fight it, now would you?
- THE CAMPAIGN -
A new year has started, and you find yourself beginning your training to become part of the village's Red Talon Watch. In a short six months, you will have raised your very own Crow companion (and mount), and become full fledged scouts.
(Temporary Picture)
Your trainer is Captain Jonathan Eaglewood, whom you know as "Panzer", next in line to become the top commander of the small band of scouts. You haven't had much time to really get to know the other scouts, yet, but know that soon that will change.
- YOUR CHARACTER -
There are a few guidelines for your characters in this campaign, unlike previous D&D campaigns I have done in the past.
Your character must have been born and raised in the village, and I will make the assumption that they have a family in the village unless given specific ideas.
However, the most important detail is that your character, when choosing a class in the character builder, is that your character is only a martial class. Basically, it means that there are no magical elements to your character at the start of the campaign. Typically, the martial classes in 4e D&D are Rogue, Fighter, Warlord, and Ranger. I might be convinced to make an exception for a martial-hybrid class, such as Skald (Bard) (Martial-Arcane), or Barbarian (Martial-Primal).
With these two details in mind, please choose themes and backgrounds to reflect these ideas; (no blood-thirsty guns for hire, or oath-sworn champions of the gods who are prophesied to lead their people to victory.)
Other than these details, have fun making your character! Feel free to create them on the D&D Character builder
(Go to create custom character -> D&D home setting -> level 1, to start.)
Also if you have any ideas for a character, but are afraid it pushes the borders of my guidelines too much, just ask me and i'll either say the idea is good or work something out to make it work. Don't be afraid to get crazy with the ideas. It wouldn't be D&D otherwise.
Lastly, post your characters in this thread as you create them! Or in the character biography section. Anywhere is fine. Tell us what they are named, how old they are, what they are like, personality quirks, favorite food, smells they can't stand, what they named their baby crow, and if they have the right number of fingers and toes.
If you post your character here, try and keep all the main details of the character to one post you edit, to make it easier to read. Maybe put the character post in a color you will use for all your RPing in this thread. Like this. Boom.
MORE COMING SOON.
